The institution welcomes applications each year from both the School Leavers and Non-School leavers aspiring to join our esteemed nursing programs. Our application process is designed to accommodate various educational backgrounds through a streamlined selection system via the Department of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology (DHERST).

Application categories

  1. School leavers typically individuals who have recently completed their grade 12 apply through the National Online System (NOSS) or the National Online Admission System (NOAS).

These Platforms facilitate the selection process based on academic performances of candidates.

  • Non School Leavers, who may have pursued alternative educational paths or have prior qualifications undergo a distinct selection process by WNBSON. The Non-School Leaver applications are specifically formulated by the institution to ensure that applicants meet the necessary standards needed for admission into our programs.

NB: For School Leavers, selection is primarily determined through the DHERST online systems, while non -school leaver applicants are evaluated based on institutional criteria tailored to their unique qualifications and experiences.

Annually Non-school Leaver (NSL) intake for the Diploma in General Nursing program will be processed ONLINE through the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) National Online Application System (NOAS).

The Application Portal will open from August [exact date to be confirmed] to November 2025 (subject to change by DHERST) .

DHERST will issue official instructions for all Non-School Leaver applicants, including those from Colleges of Distance Education (CDEs), Distance and Open Learning (DODL), Flexible Open and Distance Education (FODE), and other matriculation centers.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualification o Completed Grade 12 in the National Education System or o Completed Grade 12 Matriculation Studies through FODE or an accredited Matriculation Study Centre.

  • Required Subject Grades o Language & Literature (L&L) — Grade B, C or above o Advanced Mathematics — or General Mathematics — Grade B, C or above o Biology — Grade B, C or above o Chemistry — Grade B, C or above
  • Grade Point Average (GPA) o Minimum GPA of 2.6 or higher.
  • Age Requirement o Must be 35 years or younger at the time of application.
  • Character Reference o Must have good standing in the community, supported by a character reference from a recognized community leader.
  • For Community Health Workers (CHWs) only:
    • Must meet all academic requirements stated above.
    • Must provide a current upgraded transcript from completed Grade 12 Matriculation Studies at FODE or an accredited Matriculation Study Centre.
    • Must provide an endorsement letter from the employer for further studies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)

All eligible applicants must also submit a Letter of Interest via email to the School no later than 30th September 2025.
